Abstract Background In recent years, the field of nanotechnology and nanomedicine has transformed pharmaceutical industry with development novel drug delivery systems that overcome shortcomings traditional systems. Nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs), also known as second-generation nanocarriers, are one such efficient targeted system gained immense attention all across due to their myriad advantages applications. Scientific advancements have revolutionized our health system, but still, brain diseases like tumour remained formidable owing poor prognosis challenging tissue. this review, we highlighted application potential NLCs in brain-specific chemotherapeutic agents. Main body lipid-based formulations a solid matrix at room temperature offer enhanced stability, low toxicity, increased shelf life, improved loading capacity, biocompatibility over other conventional nanocarriers nanoemulsions nanoparticles. This review meticulously articulates structure, classification, components, various methods preparation exemplified research studies along disadvantages.
